Inhumanity inspiration #2 - Fallout 3

It's hard to say how many hours I have sunk into Fallout 3, but I can say with complete honesty I will happily return to the wastelands of Washington again and again. The setting of the Fallout universe is one which I imagine closest resembles that of Inhumanity. The rural areas being quiet, dead, empty landscapes with the cities being ruinous monuments to the old world.

Both vaults and Haven's are direct inspirations found in Inhumanity. There is even a nod to the series with an achievement called "War... War never changes". While Fallout 3's disaster (as the name would suggest) is nuclear based which gives you more scope for storylines, side quests and characters than what an eco-disaster could, but there was so much depth to the game that there was no shortage of interesting moments anyway (Tenpenney Tower anyone?)

What Fallout gave me was an indication of the variety of activities that can occur in a post-apocalyptic age. Survival is key, and it can be hard creating side quests that give the world such depth that it makes most other stories seem shallow and one dimensional in comparison.

Of course, a text adventure can never truly hold a candle to the open world adventures of the Fallout series and Inhumanity has decidedly less humour but if our humble wee game was ever mentioned in the same breath as Fallout 3, I think I might actually die of happiness.
